Rose Garden with Summer House & Reclaimed Brick Planters

Gates House Gardens were appointed to transform an overgrown section of a substantial country garden into a structured and secluded rose garden. The brief was to create an enclosed space that would protect planting from deer while introducing a sense of permanence and character through natural materials. The result is a carefully defined garden room featuring limestone paving, reclaimed brick planters and a beautifully crafted timber summer house. Existing trees and hedging were removed, the site excavated and levels prepared to accommodate new hard landscaping. Approximately 120m² of limestone paving was installed to complement the existing materials within the wider garden. Raised planters were constructed using reclaimed brick, adding warmth and texture while providing ideal structure for rose planting and seasonal displays.

Bespoke Summer House & Deer-Proof Enclosure

A substantial chunky timber summer house with a cedar shingle roof forms the focal point of the space — offering shelter, seating and year-round usability.
To fully enclose the garden and prevent deer access, new trellis fencing and bespoke gates were installed, creating a secure yet elegant boundary that maintains visual openness.
